YOUR QUESTIONS: ANSWERED

Yes! Socotra has been and still remains a very peaceful island. The local people are very friendly and welcoming. Don't be surprised if you're invited for tea!

  • IS SOCOTRA SAFE?

  • WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO COME TO SOCOTRA?

There is a direct flight from Abu Dhabi, UAE every Tuesday and Friday of each week (During most of the season. Other times it is only once per week). All you have to do is get yourself to Abu Dhabi, and we handle the rest!

  • HOW DO I GET TO SOCOTRA?

The island is a bit cooler from December-March, but really any time you choose from October-May will have spectacular views and an amazing experience waiting for you!

  • CAN I COME TO SOCOTRA WITHOUT BOOKING A TOUR?

Socotra is such an isolated island that there is no public transportation and very few accommodations available, so you can really only experience the island with a tour. We take care of 100% of your needs from the time you land in Socotra to the time you take off on your flight home!

  • WHAT ARE THE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR THE TOUR?

Socotra is best experienced through camping. Every night you will sleep in your own private tent in a different beautiful location. We provide all of the equipment, so you will only need to bring your personal belongings.

  • I'M AMERICAN. WILL A YEMENI STAMP IN MY PASSPORT CAUSE ISSUES WHEN RETURNING HOME?

No, it should not cause any issues. Come and enjoy yourself!

  • WHAT IS THE TOILET AND SHOWER SITUATION DURING THE TOUR?

Many of the campsites have toilets and showers. When you are at a campsite without facilities, you find a nice, secluded place to do your business. *We kindly ask that you bring your tissue back to camp to throw it away instead of leaving it behind.

  • WHAT KIND OF FOOD WILL I EAT ON THE TOUR?

Our chef will freshly cook 3 meals per day plus a snack once you've reached the campsite in the afternoon. Throughout the week you will be served a variety of bean and egg dishes, freshly caught fish with spiced rice, chicken with spiced rice, pasta, potato stew, salad, homemade Yemeni bread, and fruit.

  • IS THERE CELL SIGNAL ON THE ISLAND? CAN I PURCHASE A VISITOR SIM?

There is service from both UAE and Yemeni companies, but it is not very strong. Some campsites have quite good service while others have none. If you need to be connected while on the island, the easiest thing to do is buy an Etisalat visitor SIM while you are in Abu Dhabi. This will allow you to send messages to friends and family during the tour.
